Where it began

In 2019, a group of local residents and state partners formed a committee and held the first Wild Wings Light Goose Festival to celebrate this marvel of nature with our local rural community and share it with fellow bird enthusiasts across Montana and beyond. It also provides an important opportunity to appreciate the value of public lands while spreading the message of conservation, land stewardship, education and community support.

The committee works with the Rocky Mountain Front Community Foundation whose mission is to invest in the future of our communities through a permanent endowment.

The event is made possible through the tremendous support of our partners and sponsors …

*These organizations will have tables at the event

Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation - The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation (BMWF) provides access to and stewardship of Montana’s 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Our volunteer projects keep trails open, restore native habitat, mitigate user impacts, and engage youth and adults in wilderness experiences that change lives and instill a lasting land ethic. We work in close partnership with the US Forest Service to create educational and challenging conservation service projects within “the Bob.” Since our first summer in 1997, our volunteer crews have cleared and improved over 10,000 miles of trail. Active Wilderness Stewardship is our mission.

Boone and Crockett Club - The Boone and Crockett Club is the oldest wildlife conservation organization in North America, originally founded by Theordore Roosevelt. In addition to fighting for conservation so the bounty of our wilderness resource can be enjoyed by future generations, the Boone and Crockett Club provides multiple education programs to the public such as hunter’s education, K-12 education programs, youth summer camps and so much more.

Ducks Unlimited - Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people. Waterfowl conservation is facing important challenges as wetlands and other habitats are being degraded and destroyed across the continent. Ducks Unlimited has a vision to reverse this trend.

Glacier - Two Medicine Alliance - The Glacier-Two Medicine Alliance is dedicated to the protection, stewardship, and shared enjoyment of the culturally- and ecologically-irreplaceable wild lands of the Badger-Two Medicine and its interconnected ecosystems.

Montana Audubon - Founded in 1976, Montana Audubon is an independent, statewide conservation organization whose mission is to promote appreciation, knowledge and conservation of Montana’s native birds, other wildlife, and natural ecosystems and to safeguard biological diversity for current and future generations. Montana Audubon uses science, conservation education, and engages in public policy work to protect our state’s incomparable wildlife and landscapes.

Montana Chapter of The Wildlife Society - The mission of the Montana Chapter of The Wildlife Society is to encourage and support effective wildlife management in Montana by fostering development of current and future wildlife professionals, providing science-based information for policy and education, and communicating and collaborating with conservation organizations and the public.

Montana Dinosaur Center - Fossil discoveries of dinosaurs with feathers, fossil birds that still have teeth and the presence of a wishbone in both dinosaurs and their bird descendants show us how closely related birds and dinosaurs are. At The Montana Dinosaur Center we are continuing to excavate and investigate these animals and others so that we may better know how these incredible animals came to be and how they will adapt and change in the future.

Montana Discovery Foundation - The Montana Discovery Foundation is a nonprofit friends group of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. We have worked to connect community and nature through education since 1999.

Montana Wetlands and Waterfowl - MTWW is a conservation nonprofit raising awareness and appreciation for wetlands and waterfowl in Montana. They’ve been building and installing duck nesting structures in restored areas of America’s largest superfund site. MTWW is working with area schools in a program called Wild Waterfowl Workshop where students learn about waterfowl, pollution, wetlands, and build nesting tubes.

Montana WILD - Montana WILD is a conservation education center located in Helena next to Spring Meadow Lake State Park. It is operated by Montana Fish, Wildlife and parks, and invites visitors to learn about the states outstanding fish and wildlife resources. At the center you’ll find an engaging exhibit with interactive activities (like our famous scavenger hunt), a live Montana fish aquarium, an outdoor Picinic area, and all the information you need to enjoy Montana’s great outdoors. The center offers regular educational programs for field trips as well as the public on a variety of topics.

National Wildlife Federation - For more than 80 years, the National Wildlife Federation has been uniting Americans to ensure wildlife thrive. Through habitat protection, restoration, and management, our far-reaching impact has brought numerous species back from the brink of extinction, including eagles, deer, elk, bighorn sheep, and whales. Our ability to help wildlife is inextricably linked to the diverse efforts of the individuals and groups that support our mission.

Pheasants Forever Golden Triangle Chapter - Pheasant’s Forever mission is to conserve pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy.

Rocky Mountain Front Weed Roundtable - mission to conduct strategic, collaborative noxious weed management while partnering with local stakeholders to benefit the economic, biological, and social well-being of the Rocky Mountain Front.
